Kombucha is amazing! It’s good for you and it tastes good, too (maybe I’m biased on the taste – it might be something that is kind of an “acquired taste” ?). If you haven’t drank it before or don’t know what it is, it is a probiotic tea. It is good for a lot of things, but one of the important things is gut health. Gut health can impact so many different things. Our guts have been referred to as our “second brain” because it impacts other parts of our body so much.
If you want to start brewing kombucha at home, a great place (and a woman owned company) to get your starter kit from is The Kombucha Shop. Since I’ve made it at home before, I had most of the stuff and just needed some tea, a SCOBY + Starter, a temperature sticker, and a cool jar cover (you can use a paper towel or a coffee filter with a rubber band around it).
If you need a Starter Kit, they have what you need as well! They have a Brewing Kit and a Deluxe Brewing Kit. Depending on the temperature of your home, a heating wrap may be helpful. I got the temperature stickers this time so I can better monitor what the temp is and then decide if I need one.
The Kombucha Shop also has a really, really great Q&A section on their website that is a free resource.
When you make your own at home you can make it based on the flavors you like, which is a great perk. One of our favorites is Tart Cherry. I’m also looking forward to doing one with pineapple and one with strawberry.
