Diluting Thieves Laundry Soap

It’s really important to use a laundry soap that is non-toxic (aka has no chemicals) because you use it to wash your clothes and your clothes touch your skin all day.

Just like scent booster ingredients are important, so are the ingredients in your actual laundry detergent. Just search for some ingredients in Tide Free and Gentle laundry soap. On their website it says there are no fragrance or dyes, but it doesn’t actually list any ingredients that are in it (or if they do, they are not easy to find). ?

Even look up Dreft. Detergent made for BABIES’ clothes. That should be super safe, right? Check the ingredients.

I’m not trying to scare you, I just want you to ask questions about the products you are using.

A great option for laundry detergent that you can trust is Thieves Laundry Soap. One bottle of Thieves Laundry Soap is $29.50 if you are a wholesale Young Living member. Which seems like a lot, but it is very concentrated, so you can split that into 3 bottles (which makes it $9.80 per bottle). Each bottle can be used for up to 64 loads, so comes out to $0.15 per load. That’s a pretty good deal – especially for a plant based, chemical free detergent.

For cost perspective, at Target, you can buy a jumbo bottle of Tide Free and Gentle laundry detergent for $17.99 with 96 loads. That comes out to about $0.18 per load.

To get started, you will need three 32 oz. containers, a bottle of Thieves Laundry Soap, thieves household cleaner, thieves essential oil, other essential oils of your choice (optional), and water.

Ingredients + Directions (this will make one bottle of laundry soap):

  • 1/3 bottle of Thieves Laundry Soap
  • 2 capfuls of Thieves Household Cleaner
  • 20 drops of Thieves Essential Oil
  • Optional: 10-20 drops of another oil, such as Citrus Fresh
  • Fill the rest of the way with warm or hot water. (PRO TIP: fill about halfway with water and shake to combine, then add the rest of the water and shake to combine. It can be difficult to shake/combine if you fill all the way at first.)

Tip: I make all 3 bottles at once so I have to make it less often. Also, that means if they have been sitting for a while, you will probably need to shake them up a bit again before using.

I use these containers in the video below. If you like or prefer to use glass, these would be even better!
